Richard B. Cheney is an American businessman, public servant and politician. Cheney is a prominent figure on the scene of Washington politics, worked with four presidents of the United States. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush announced the nomination of Cheney to be his vice president running partner in July of 2001. Bush cited Cheney's wisdom, judgment, and experience. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff to a president, served as a member of Congress and served as the secretary of defense. Republicans and Democrats all respect his honesty. Cheney says the position he will play within the administration as one of an open and honest advisor to Bush. Cheney was the first to accept the Republican vice-presidential nominating in 2007 stated that he was looking forward to serving under a president that can work across political lines and work with political rivals with goodwill and a common purpose. Richard Bruce Cheney, son of Richard Herbert Cheney & Marjorie Lauraine Dickey was born on January 30, 1941 at Lincoln Nebraska. When he was 13 years old, Bruce accompanied his parents from Nebraska to Casper (in the US state of Wyoming) where his father was Director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's land conservation districts.
